For the Love of God

Introduction
The topic is "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD" taken from the magazine "NEWS WEEK Pakistan"; which is written by Jhanzeb Aslam. This article is about the film "Innocence of Muslims" that was made against the muslim by an american named "Sam Bacile". He badly hurt the feelings of muslims which led many protests all across the globe. These protest were led by many muslim scholars, leaders and even by some banned religious organizations. In pakistan many protests were held. As a result of those protests, many people lost their lives. Pakistani government declared 21 september a public holiday named it as "Yaum-e-Ishq-e-Rasool and according to the writer the government had little choices.
This article is related to management. In this article the writer had written about the three parties which were somehow involved in this protests the Government, Americans and the protestors. Every one who was part of these protests managed something. This was not a structured problem so thatswhy programmed decisions cann't be applied on this situation. Either the government had failed or they had got what they wanted by declaring a public holiday. Firstly, Government declared a public holiday by not for realizing the potential impact this particular decision on the life of non-protestors and even on the life of the protestors. The decision to declare that particular day as public holiday by the Government also endangered the lives of both the protestors and non-protestors. If the Government had good managers they must had overcome this by predicting it. Secondly, the YouTube management also didn't took the notice of the blasphemous video "Innocence of Muslims" which had hurt the feeling of millions of muslims which caused the blockage of the services of "YouTube" in muslim countries. This will create a great effect on their earnings. By giving official Sanction for the protests took some heat off the Government and the protestors were focussed sole to take off the heat from yourself but it didn't seem to be good in long term because it rises the courage of the them. They even damaged the Government and public property. Two days earlier the U.S. State department began airing video on Pakistani channels which is an example of a good management because they knew that the blasly on the west especially America. This was a good managerial decision phemous video will cause a bad effect for them in pakistan so they started clearing their point of view by airing spots on T.V and on Radio with the words of President Barack Obama about interfaith harmony and from Secretary of State Hillary clinton condemning the video, which hurted the muslims bad and which may have resulted in the assassination of U.S. Ambassador in Libya. But even then these good managerial decisions from american government couldn't stop the bloodly violence in Pakistan as well as in middle east where the American ambassador was killed during a voilent protest in front of American embassy. Some decisions were made as a result of gathering of Pakistani officials which included: Decision to block all the services of the cell phones. This was a good decision to some extent which controled the overall impact. Consequently, people were not able to contact each other too easily. Moreover, protestors were not able to get together easily and through this they also get rid of the terrorist threats.
Another example regarding the management lies in the article is of the police department in peshawar which failed to manage the situation. Firstly, they killed a staff member of ARY reporting group by hitting him with three bullets in his chest. There was no good decision making in the management of the protest as it was reported by the reporter present in the diplomatic enclave Islamabad that the protestors are handily overcoming the security lines present outside the enclave. In lahore the protestors showed up at the corner of kashmir and egerton roads, which lead to the lahore press club and the U.S. Consulate. The government managers could have easily apprehended them because this place was no stranger to the protests. The protests of approving Gov. Salman Taseer 's assassination, anti-Raymond Davis and Pro- Osama Bin Laden demonstration took place here. In front of the consulate, police was greatly outnumbered and there was only a line of containers placed between the protestors and the police which was the only thing that stood between them.Which was taken down in matter of seconds. The police Officials had totally mismanaged it by underestimating the protesters.
At that day about 20-25 were reported dead, including policemen which resulted from the riots in Peshawar, karachi and in other cities of the Pakistan. This doesn't end here; it left hundreds of the protesters injured. The Protests were also highly mismanaged by the Government officials as they were not able to resist them properly. Furthermore, the officials declaring that day as a Public holiday were not even aware of the fact that doing this would increase the number of protests and the protestors by a significant amount. In contrast to violent protests, we witnessed some of the calm Protests in Multan and in some other areas. In addition to this, we saw negotiations taking place between the leaders of protestors and the local administrative authorities which resulted in peaceful protests which were very well managed by both sides.
Conclusion:
Government Official while deciding on declaring that day as holiday should have seen this coming and could have saved many lives. If the management had predicted violence then it was better not to declare that day as a holliday. Now, knowing that they announced a holiday, it became their ultimate responsibility to take certain steps in order to avoid any potential threats. And if they had managed the situation well then they would have been able to stop the violence, killings of innocent ones and damage of the both public and private properties. The management planing was a disaster in this case.
